The .tj is the top level country code extension for the Republic of Tajikistan. The Information Technology Center of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is the national registry responsible for the operation and control of .tj domain name system. It is also responsible for the second-level domain name registration. Some of the 2nd level domains available for registration are .biz.tj, .co.tj, .com.tj, .coop.tj, .edu.tj, .gov.tj .info.tj .int.tj .mil.tj, .net.tj .org.tj and .web.tj.
Individuals and organizations in all countries are eligible to apply for any number of .tj domain names without any restrictions. Before applying for .tj domain name, though, every applicant is advised to check the availability of domain name. They are also required to read and agree with the rules and regulations described in the policy. The request for .tj domain registration is to be submitted online in a prescribed form as specified in the policy. The allocation of domain names is made on a 'first come, first served' basis. When the applicant receives confirmation that his domain name registration application has been approved, he or she must then implement necessary registration procedures within one month. If he fails to do so, his approval will be cancelled.
The .tj domain name must have a minimum of two and maximum of 63 characters. No characters other than alphanumeric (1 to 9 and a to z) and hyphen characters are accepted. It should be noted that hyphen will not allowed as the first or last character of a domain name. The domain names containing religious words, geographical names, existing generic top-level domain name words, and those which are similar or identical to domain names that already exist shall not be registered.
The registering authority reserves the right to cancel the registration of a domain which is contradictory to public interests, principles of humanity and religious feelings. The authority can also delete a domain name from the .tj domain database upon the written request of the registrant. Any legal dispute arising in the matter of .tj domain registration will be resolved in accordance with the laws prevailing in the Republic of Tajikistan and Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.
